About the Club

What is the University of Toronto Road Racing Club?

We are a new club that will be a place for road racing enthusiasts to come together to train and race.

Who can join?

Anyone with a bike and the desire to ride.

That said there will be two levels of participation: a club level for riders who are new to the sport or can’t commit to train regularly with the team, and a team level for riders who will engage in structured training and travel to races to represent the University of Toronto.

What is the training schedule?

We are currently figuring this out. It will likely be two structured training spinning sessions during the week and then a longer ride outdoors (weather permitting) on Saturdays.

When and where will we race?

We have been invited to race in the Eastern Collegiate Cycling Conference. See the schedule for race dates. We will attend 3-4 of the race weekends.

Who will we race against?

Harvard, Columbia, Princeton, Yale, Penn State — basically schools from the Northeast of the US as well as McGill and possibly Queens.

What if I don’t want to race?

You are still welcome to train with us during the week, space permitting, as well as joining the weekend rides.

Is it expensive?

We are working to develop partnerships and find sponsors who can help make this as affordable as possible, but it is likely that you will need to cover at least part of your travel costs and possibly at least a portion of the cost for racing kit.
